How to Optimise Your Brand’s Instagram Profile for Increased Engagement (Part 2)

There are many elements that go into making an Instagram profile the best it can be. It’s not just about having the perfect profile picture, a well-written bio, or a really compelling call-to-action, no, it’s about all of these things combined!

Your Instagram profile may be the first introduction a person has with your brand, so you want to pack a punch from the first profile visit. In part 1 of this blog, we discussed the importance of choosing the right profile picture and went through some tips on how to write the perfect bio for your brand. So what’s next?…

Add a call-to-action link in your bio

Depending on the goal of your bio, it is important to include a CTA link. By including a link, whether it be to your website, newsletter signup, your latest blog, ticket sales page, etc, you are fully utilising the valuable real estate that is your Instagram bio.

To help guide viewers, it is a good idea to use the last line of your bio (which publishes directly above the CTA link) to tell users what you want them to do or what they will get from the link. Don’t be afraid to get creative with emojis to make the CTA stand out even further. However you craft your CTA, it is a great asset to have to help drive traffic within your brand’s digital marketing ecosystem.

Include contact details in your bio

With an Instagram business profile, you can include your phone number, email address, and location on your profile, making it easier for visitors and potential customers to reach out directly. By doing this, you are essentially making your Instagram profile a one-stop-shop and eliminating the need for visitors to do external research to get in touch with you, or worse, losing interest before even getting to this point.

Utilise Instagram story highlights to extend your profile

Instagram story highlights are essentially an extension of your bio or even a portfolio for your brand. They are a great way to showcase your brand, share valuable information, share your brand’s personality, and even spotlight your brand’s community. They allow you to provide additional information and value that won’t fit into the 150 words of your bio, making them an important addition to your profile.

In addition to creating story highlights, it is also important to consider the flow and consistency of your profile by including highlight cover images. By utilising a cohesive and relevant set of cover images for your story highlights, this will contribute to the consistency of your brand’s page and make you’re your overall bio more appealing to visitors.

Your brand’s Instagram profile/bio is an important tool for attracting your ideal audience, driving traffic to your website, services, or other parts of your brand’s digital marketing ecosystem, and ultimately making sales.

So, when was the last time you updated your Instagram profile? If it’s been a while or you can’t remember, now is the perfect time to jump online and ensure you are making the ultimate first impression on every new visitor to come across your profile.
