Content Ideas to Add Value to Your Social Feed

For your brand to survive in the online space, fresh and up-to-date content that brings value to your audience is essential. We know that this is easier said than done, and sometimes it can be hard to think of what to post next. But don’t worry, because we are going to walk you through 4 different types of content that you can and should be posting to boost the impact of your brand’s social media presence.

As with all of your brand’s marketing, social media should contribute to your overall goal of making sales and capturing leads. That being said; however, not every piece of content that you post should have a sales-driven focus. Content-driven posts that aim to educate, entertain, engage, and/or inspire your audience are just as valuable.

We are by no means saying that none of your posts should be sales-driven, but it all comes down to two things: reaching your audience at the right time and not bombarding them with sales pitch after sales pitch. Content-driven posts are a great way to capture the attention of your audience while they are in the early stages of their customer journey, ‘need recognition’ and ‘information search’, which will help to gain authority and build trust with them for when you want to convert them with your more sales-driven content.

What types of content should you be posting?

There are 4 types of content you should consider when creating posts for your brand’s social feed:

  1. Education: Tap into your audience’s human desire to want to learn by creating educational posts that provide your audience with some new information. Common educational post ideas include sharing content from your blog, providing industry-relevant tips and tricks, diving into relevant industry statistics and research, and exploring case studies. This type of content helps to establish you as a leader and expert in your field.

  2. Inspiration: Inspirational posts should serve the purpose of motivating, inspiring, building respect, and positioning yourself as a thought leader in your industry. These posts need to be something that is easy to swallow and agree with and can include things such as a good quote or song lyric that is relevant to your audience and will help to trigger a reaction from them. In addition, including a quote overlay in your image and simply adding your logo or webpage to the post is a great way to promote your brand in a non-pushy way.

  3. Behind-the-scenes: In order to build a relationship of trust with your audience, behind-the-scenes posts are necessary. Types of behind-the-scenes posts could include team-building content, progress content, funny office content, or even personal updates on your team members. These posts help to humanise your brand, create a sense of transparency, and make your brand feel more down to earth and close, and therefore relatable to your audience. Such content tends to trigger actions such as liking, sharing and commenting. This engagement from your audience helps turn them into a promotor of your brand, and we don’t need to tell you the importance of word-of-mouth for your business.

  4. Promotion: It’s time to make some sales! Promotional posts are what get your brand/product in front of your audience. In these posts, you should tell your audience about your current products, services, and offers, or even ask them to sign up for your newsletter or other online forms. Make sure you do this in a way that is relatable to your audience (i.e. talking to their pain points) as you want to use these posts to push your audience towards completing the desired action.

Educational, inspirational, and behind-the-scenes content helps you to build your brand online without becoming another boring online seller. We recommend that for every 4 posts that you create, you have one of each of these posts. This will ensure that you are providing valuable content for your audience, helping them to get to know your brand and create a connection before telling them why they should buy from you and going in for the sale.
